At our morning meeting, those with iPhones immediately jumped on the wi-fi network, while some resorted to simply playing basic iPhone games. The game that has dominated this trip (bus ride boredom) is a game called Field Runners. I played it once with Blake in Miami, it’s pretty cool. In a span of five minutes, the entire atmosphere of the room was focused on gaming.
“Maybe my phone is freaking out because I’ve been playing so much Field Runners.” -Hannah
“Jalen, are you playing Field Runners?” – Hannah
“No, I’m playing a game about a bird who has tiny wings.” -Jalen
Obviously, the morning was super exciting.
The language classes are split into two groups and today one of the groups went to the Arequipa locals market. Tomorrow, the next group will go.
Dumbing Us Down, John Taylor Gatto quotation of the day:
“Whatever and education is, it should make you a unique individual, not a conformist; it should furnish you with an original spirit with which to tackle the big challenges; it should allow you to find values which will be your road map through life; it should make you spiritually rich, a person who loves whatever you are doing, wherever you are, whomever you are with; it should teach you what is important: how to live and how to die.”
