Up and out. Out of the jungle daze and back into civilization. After a bumpy, NASCAR-esque ride back into the touristy island town of Flores, the four of us chowed down on fresh guacamole and srubbed off our caked jungle grime in hot showers. Our good friend, and Deer Crossing Camp buddy, David Evitt was waiting for us at our hostel. David has been living in Guatemala for the past nine months engineering efficient stoves for local people — he will join Vince and Jim for the next week and the three will explore the famous ruins of Tikal among other sites.
Three freezing, chocolatey, drippy, satisfying ice creams later, I called it a night.
