After a solid night’s sleep, we woke up at El Mirador (a Mayan city that flourished 100bc – 200ad.) Apparently one of the pyramids here, La Danta, is the biggest pyramid in the Americas. We hung out on top for a couple hours and soaked up the sunshine while overlooking the jungle to the north (Mexico was 3 miles away), Belize to the East (about a three day trek to the ocean), Tintal to the south (the camp we hiked from yesterday) and El Tigre (a smaller pyramid at El Mirador) to the west.
Little green humps in the distance = Mayan pyramids. Cool, we’re on top of one.
